animals, they will kill each other. He who sows the seed of murder
and pain cannot reap joy and love."

Arizona,
here I come!

I'm Sweetie, and this
was me on my last day at Best Friends
I started out
as a stray pitbull terrier on the streets of Puerto Rico. It
was a hard life for a dog with no home and a heart full of heart-
worms.
I was rescued
by Celeste,a psychologist who'd come from New York to try to
make life better for all of us street dogs. In my case, she arranged
to put me on a plane so I could come to Best Friends.
When I arrived
here, everyone said I was a sweetie, so that's how I got my name.
I was here just about a year before I was adopted into a new
home near Tucson, Arizona.

And, after you've read that, there's even more: a great follow-up!

The Music of Life. Prof. Mary Anne Clark has translated
each amino acid on the biological scale into a musical note.
The notes combine into a tune as each protein "sings"
its song. One of them "sounds like a Latin dance tune,"
says the prof. The music is being made into a CD. Samples are
on the web site.
